Occupational lead exposure disproportionately affects Pacific people and workers in deprived areas

Our surveillance reports on occupational lead absorption notifications have just been updated with 2024 data. 

Occupational lead absorption rates remained high in 2024, influenced in part by the lower notifiable threshold introduced in 2021, with painters and metal refinery workers most affected.
Pacific people and those living in the most deprived areas continued to experience disproportionately higher notification rates.
